Communities: contribute data, build skills, unlock jobs,
growth and opportunity.

We partner with women–and youth–led groups to capture industrial deadstock and post-consumer apparel at source.

A 1–2 minute prompt-led flow logs item, condition and images, turning unsorted apparel into decision-ready datawith a local audit trail.

Qualified inputs feed WAYste: upcycling guidance, paid pilots, and micro-enterprise so contributors build skills and earn from finished products.

What you get
-
Skills & micro-enterprise: learn fast tagging and basic grading of apparel at source.
-
Pathways: priority access to paid pilots, WAYste upcycling, and local business support.
-
Recognition/compensation: contributors credited and compensated per pilot model.
How it works
-
Onboard (short): safeguarding, consent, and a 20-minute intro to the 1–2 minute tagging flow.
-
Tag at source (mobile): use a mobile phone with our prompt-led tagging app to log item, condition and images. Works offline; records are stored on the device and sync automatically when you’re back on Wi-Fi or data.
-
Quality check: light spot-checks/dual-tags keep labels consistent.
-
Submit & see impact: get simple progress stats and invites to paid pilots/WAYste.

Device & connectivity: Android/iOS, basic camera, light data usage. Offline first; encrypted sync when connected.
Tech notes: The app stores tagged records locally with encryption and retries sync on connection. Low-bandwidth image compression is enabled; photos are time-stamped and linked to the capturing group/site for the audit trail.
Why it matters (policy call-out)
-
Community tagging converts uncatalogued apparel into decision-ready data, unlocking measurable public value:
-
Jobs, growth & opportunity: paid pilots, skills pathways and micro-enterprise for women & youth; local supplier/SME development.
-
Waste reduction & value recovery: diversion from landfil, incineration; more reuse, repair, upcycling; fewer write-offs.
-
Traceability & compliance: DPP/EPR-ready records (site/group audit trail), exportable for regulators and funders. European Commission.
-
Cost & carbon: faster sorting → lower handling, storage, transport; reduced embodied-carbon wastage.
-
Safeguarding & data protection: consent logs, role-based access, UK GDPR alignment; offline-first with encrypted sync.

Outputs: a simple quarterly report covering diversion (tonnes), routing yield %, jobs, paid hours & trainees, SME participation, traceability coverage %, and avoided cost estimates. (DPP/EPR evidence export included.)
Policy alignment: Outputs are DPP/EPR-ready and GDPR-aligned; reporting maps to council/NGO targets on diversion, jobs/skills, SME growth and traceability.
